Since 2004, Denton, Texas rock outfit Oso Closo has been gaining steam and notoriety in the hometown that nurtured their musical vision; each of the five members have been or are currently students at Denton's University of North Texas, which boasts one of the nation's foremost music programs. It is not a coincidence, therefore, that high-minded influences are detectable not only in their decidedly classic sound, but also in the freedom and spontaneity with which they perform. Front man Adrian Hulet plays piano and provides the lead vocals while UNT jazz alum Chris McQueen is on lead guitar, Lindsey Miller on rhythm guitar, Andy Rogers on bass and Ryan Jacobi on drums.

UNT attracted the band members from as far away as Chicago, in Jacobi's case, and Nashville, where Rogers, an expert banjo player, comes from a long line of bluegrass musicians. McQueen (Austin, TX) also plays guitar for the eclectic instrumental act Snarky Puppy and was a member of the UNT One O'clock Lab Band, and Hulet has been a drummer for bands like The Rocket Summer, My Spacecoaster and Rodney Parker and the 50 Peso Reward. Both Jacobi and Miller (Kansas City) have been members of the UNT Two O'clock Lab Band. But in spite of their musical know-how, Oso Closo's rock-factor cannot be overstated. Hulet and McQueen's song compositions are as immediately satisfying as they are complex, offering plenty to appreciate for both pop listeners and more discerning music aficionados. They consistently pack Denton rock venues, sharing the stage with the likes of Wheatus, Million Year Dance, Yellow Second, Fishboy, Record Hop, and Black Tie Dynasty, and continue to spread their influence to Fort Worth, Dallas and surrounding areas. The intensity of their live performances has led to a write-up in Modern Luxury Dallas magazine, and mention in Alternative Press magazine by longtime friend Bryce Avary of the Rocket Summer as an up-and-coming band to look out for.

Oso Closo's debut record "Rest" is due for release in April of this year. Augmenting their already thick sound with string arrangements, it is highly anticipated by both longtime fans and recent converts. A summer of extensive touring and promotion of the record will follow the release which will be available online at their MySpace page and at www.sitmom.com. Committed and confident, Oso Closo plans to continue to grow as a band and as creators, calling upon musical traditions while simultaneously reinventing them into their greatest possible art.
