Lots of Gigs

Hey friends!

Thanks for visiting the site. I’ve had lots of very nice gigs lately. I’m out on tour this weekend with the incredibly talented Laila Biala, and I just returned from a quick trip to Texas where I played drums on a wonderful album produced by the fantastic Erik Herbst at The Panhandle House. The Panhandle House is a beautiful studio with great rooms, a vintage NEVE console, and lots of quality outboard gear that is exceptionally utilized in the very capable hands of Erik Herbst. Here is a picture from the studio (I had to fly in so all the drums are ‘in-house’ equipment).

I had a great gig at the BlueFrog studios recently with Harmonica wizard Keith Bennett, and Miles Black on Piano and André Lechance on Bass. Those guys are really fun to play with! I hope to post some video when it’s available. In the meantime, please check out my instagram feed for my latest videos. I try to post there weekly (if time permits) and share video clips of gigs and projects I’m working on.

The album I have been producing for Adam Thomas is finally wrapped up, and I can’t wait for you to hear it when it’s released in March of 2018. Adam is a real talent and and believe together we have produced a very fine album, wonderfully mixed by John Raham at Afterlife Studios (formerly the legendary Mushroom Studios).

I apologize I don’t have a gig calendar on this website (I can only manage so much internet tech stuff!), but I try to post all my public gigs and happenings on my facebook page, so please feel free to ‘like’ that page or simply check it out for events. I have many shows with a wide variety of artists coming up. Also, I’m trying to post more singing content when I have time, and you can hear me singing a cover song from Phil Collins on my videos page, or below.

Well, that’s all I have time for in this post. Thank you kindly for stopping by!

A busy summer….

It’s been a great (albeit too short) summer in Vancouver. Among the usual cohorts of various people I perform with (Famous Players, The Ticket, Infamous Players, Swing Soul Band, plus many other jazz & corporate gigs) I’ve been fortunate to be singing and playing drums all summer at a beautiful french restaurant named Provence Marinaside with a band called Hip Pocket. It’s been a very fun gig, and below you can see a clip of me singing and playing drums on the song ‘S Wonderful.

I’ll be back at Provence every Wednesday (6-9pm) for the whole month of November (no October sorry), and fall continues to be very busy with upcoming gigs all around Vancouver, teaching at a jazz camp, and an upcoming tour of Australia with Laila Biali. I’ve also got a CD release with Jennifer Hayes and some kids shows with Grammy award winning children’s entertainer Jennifer Gasoi. If you are interested in attending any of these shows, or the many other jazz shows I play, please ‘like’ my Facebook artist page as I try to promote all my public gigs there. No calendar here on this site yet, I’m just not that Tech savy. 🙂

thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Wonderful Summer gigs

Hi all!

I’ve been playing some wonderful gigs around Vancouver. Lots of shows with a relatively new band called THE TICKET. It’s a great group of people and we play private parties and also the casino circuit. I’ve also had many shows with an amazing bunch including Amanda Wood, Hip Pocket, Leslie Mounteney, Michelle and the Creber Family, Chris Gestrin, Jon Roper, Christine Best, Andrea Superstein, Quickness, Sharon Minemoto, & Bruno Hubert.

I’m still doing a fair amount of recording session work, and a number of albums I played on have recently come available (including a wonderful new CD by Lisa Donahey) and also some really fun work @ demitone for the lovely and talented Marysa Taylor. I’ll try to post links to more of these soon.

Here is a picture from a private show I performed for the fireworks night from a rooftop penthouse suite here in Vancouver.

We had a great time, and they wouldn’t let us stop! I was singing a lot of standard jazz material along with drumming which was really fun (and a bit of a nice change from the pop material I sing). It was a long night (over 5 and a half hours!) but was a pretty cool gig.

thanks for stopping by!

I can’t believe it’s not raining!

I’ve had a great time with gigs this past month, not only at the Vancouver Jazz Festival, but many other fun events. I was lucky enough to play with Chris Gestrin, Bruno Hubert, Jaclyn Guillou, Adam Thomas, Jillian Lebeck, Tilden Webb, Big Buck, Michelle Creber, side one, and many other cool groups!

If you are in Vancouver July 27th, I’ll be playing at Pat’s Pub with the Chris Gestrin Quartet from 3pm-7pm. It’s always a treat to play with Chris Gestrin, and it should be a great show.

Hope to see you then!
